Mark is volunteering for a small, British registered charity called Soft Power Education and will be involved in making water tanks, repairing old ones and putting up guttering to ensure that villagers have access to rain water and don’t have to walk for miles to collect river water, which is not clean and makes many of them sick when they drink it.
Mark will also be teaching the Ugandans skills needed to be able to carry on with this work when he has left. This saves the charity a lot of money as otherwise they would have to employ outside contractors.
Nigel Open, Operations Director for Vinyl Solutions said:
“We’re proud of Mark for supporting this great cause! We all very much hope it is a successful trip and we are sure it will be a memorable experience for him, but most importantly it will help the Ugandan’s in what are very challenging circumstances.”
